Waitrose in Solihull

Waitrose shoppers in Solihull can help The Royal Star & Garter Homes win a share of £1,000.

Customers at the branch in Homer Road can vote for the Charity with green tokens given to them at the check-out throughout July. It is part of the supermarket’s Community Matters initiative.

The Royal Star & Garter Homes cares for ex-Servicemen and women and their partners living with disability or dementia.

It is the second of the Charity’s three Homes to be selected for the Community Matters scheme, after Waitrose shoppers in High Wycombe were able to cast their vote for The Royal Star & Garter Homes in June.

Shoppers are able to vote for three good causes from the store. The more tokens received by the Charity, the bigger its share of £1,000.

The money is going towards the purchase of a new minibus, which will be used to help take residents on outings and to medical appointments.

Caley Eldred, Director of Supporter Engagement at the Charity, said: “We’re raising money for a new minibus to support residents getting out and about. It plays a key role in the quality of care we provide, so we’re delighted to be part of Waitrose’s Community Matters programme in Solihull.”

The Charity has Homes in Surbiton, Surrey, and Solihull.
