A care home in Surbiton will throw open its doors to the veterans’ community when it hosts two open days.

Royal Star & Garter in Upper Brighton Road will showcase the outstanding person-centred long-term and short-break care it delivers to veterans, their family and friends, during open days on 31 January and 7 February. Those wishing to attend are asked to register in advance.

The Home welcomes anyone who has served in the UK Armed Forces, including Reservists and those who completed National Service.

It provides loving, compassionate care – including short breaks – to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia. Day Care and Lunch Clubs are among newer services reaching out into the community which have also been launched at the Home.

Visitors interested in short breaks, which is now available to people living with dementia, are also encouraged to attend. The short stay offer allows for 30% off a two-week stay between January and 30 April 2025, if booked by 28 February.

The open days run from 10.30am-12.30pm on 31 January and 2-4pm on 7 February.

Those attending will be given a snapshot of everyday life at Royal Star & Garter and the chance to speak to senior staff. They will be offered a tour of the Home, which will include the in-house physiotherapy room and hair salon, garden, activities room and lounges.

Visitors will be able to watch or participate in a range of activities taking place on the day.

Senior care staff, including Home Manager Helena Maher, and members of the Wellbeing Team, will be available to answer questions over a cuppa and a slice of cake. Residents from the Home will also be on hand to speak to visitors about Royal Star & Garter.
