Our care

We provide loving, compassionate care and support for veterans and their families living with disability or dementia.

We do this through our four Homes and through our services reaching into the community, including Day Care, Lunch Clubs and a Telephone Friendship Service.

Our highly skilled, motivated staff meet the nursing, disability and dementia care needs of our residents in an appropriate, personalised and compassionate way.

The dementia care offered by our Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe Homes focuses on person-centred support with empathy and understanding. We are evolving this to include new developments in dementia care and the use of technology. These will improve diagnosis and outcomes, while keeping veterans and their partners at the heart of what we do.

All of our Homes offer end-of-life care accredited by the Gold Standards Framework, which trains staff in end-of-life care and recognises best practice.

We were named in the Top 20 Small Care Home Groups 2026, thanks to the five-star feedback from relatives on carehome.co.uk.

Merger with Care for Veterans

A merger with Care for Veterans in 2025 enables us to provide a more effective, efficient and wider-reaching offer to the veteran community of all ages.

Now called Care for Veterans – a Royal Star & Garter Home, it also focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach in the care and rehabilitation of residents, which includes care for Acquired Brain Injury and degenerative neurological conditions.

Community services

Aiming to raise the standards of care for all veterans, we now offer services reaching into the community, including Day Care and Lunch Club services, and a Telephone Friendship Service.

We also established the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF), a programme designed for use in residential settings for older people, which helps care providers to offer appropriate support for the thousands of veterans living in care homes across England.

We constantly evolve our services and innovate in our care to meet the needs of our Armed Forces family, just as we have for more than 100 years.

Our knowledge

We have 110 years’ experience in providing pioneering nursing and therapeutic care to veterans living with disabilities and dementia. We are committed to sharing our knowledge, skills and experience with other organisations to promote better care for veterans and all older people. We partner with health care, military and academic organisations to share and develop our knowledge for the benefit of our communities.

Our future

We are developing our services in line with a new strategy which will be published in June 2026. Whichever way we offer our care, friendship, respectcourage and compassion are always at the heart of what we do.
