Open days are taking place in April at two Royal Star & Garter Homes, which have both been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.

The charity’s Solihull and High Wycombe care homes will each showcase the exceptional nursing and dementia care alongside their Day Care and Lunch Clubs that they provide for veterans and partners, during two open days. Those wishing to attend are asked to register in advance.

The Solihull Home’s open days take place on Thursday 3 April and Tuesday 8 April, from 11am to 1pm. In High Wycombe, they will be held on Tuesday 1 April and Thursday 10 April from 2-4pm.

Royal Star & Garter provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia. Day Care and Lunch Clubs are among newer services reaching out into the community which have also been launched at the Homes.

The Solihull Home was rated Outstanding in all five tested domains, and among the best care homes in the country, in its last CQC inspection. The High Wycombe Home is also judged to be Outstanding by the CQC.

Those attending the open days will be given a snapshot of everyday life at the Homes, and the chance to speak to the Home Managers and other senior staff. They will be offered a tour of the Homes, which will include the in-house physiotherapy rooms and hair salons, gardens, activities rooms and lounges. Visitors will also have the chance to join in with the planned activities, and chat to the residents.

The open days are for veterans – including reservists and those who completed National Service – and their partners, as well as two accompanying relatives or friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to register interest online through Eventbrite, with places limited to three per booking.
