Our Solihull Home Launches Day Care Service for Local Veterans
The Royal Star & Garter Homes has launched a day care service, the ‘Star & Garter Club’. The service welcomes tri-service veterans of HM Armed Forces and their partners to the Charity’s award-winning Solihull Home.
The Charity has drawn upon its wealth of experience in providing outstanding residential care to establish a complete day care package. The service will enable veterans access to the wide range of activities and therapies on offer at the Home as well as a host of other benefits on a daily basis.
Guests share their day with fellow veterans and choose from a varied programme of activities and entertainment. The Home offers comfortable lounges and accessible gardens for guests to enjoy as well as a choice of hot meals and snacks. Little extras such as hair styling, personal care, help with laundry, and spa treatments are available. Well-being health checks are provided and there is the option to engage in a physiotherapy programme with the in-house team. The service includes door-to-door transport for guests.
One of the Star & Garter Club’s first guests is Norma, whose late husband was a resident at the Solihull Home. She commented, “I loved the way the Home cared for my husband and also the way they treated me, so I’m delighted to be joining them as a day care guest. I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and getting involved with all of the activities.”
The Charity’s Director of Care & Service Development, Pauline Shaw, commented, “This is an exciting new direction for the Charity, and one that will enable us to provide care for even more veterans and their partners. We’re confident that club members and residents of the Home will enjoy the opportunities to socialise and meet new friends, and we look forward to welcoming day care guests into The Royal Star & Garter family.”
This day care service is supported with a grant from the Aged Veterans’ Fund funded by the Chancellor using LIBOR funds.
