Britain’s Got Talent PC ‘Dancing Dan’ performs for disabled veterans
9th May 2017 – Britain’s Got Talent contestant PC Dan Graham – nicknamed ‘Dancing Dan’ performed his crowd-pleasing, body-popping moves in front of veterans at The Royal Star & Garter Homes in Surbiton.
Dancing Dan, who received four ‘yes’s from the Britain’s Got Talent judges, took to the floor in his full Met uniform much to the joy and amusement of his audience. Dan performed three dance numbers, two of which were accompanied by staff from the Home. Physiotherapist, Jo, was spun round the dancefloor to an upbeat Salsa commented, “Dan’s dancing was incredible. As a physiotherapist, I had no idea that body isolations of that level were anatomically possible! Thank you Dan for the Salsa dance too – you are a good lead, and masked my rather rusty skills. Thank you!”
When asked if any of the residents had any questions about his performance or policing, 102-year-old Vi cheekily asked, “Are you married?!” Dan was quick to reply with a broad grin and a “No”, which received many chuckles from the audience. After his performance Dan took time to mingle with and speak to the residents. Many gave him their good luck wishes for Britain’s Got Talent and hoped he would come back and perform again soon! Resident Vi commented on Dan’s performance, “I found it very interesting! It was very different from my day, we only had Foxtrot and the like. He was very good, very entertaining! I hope he comes back in August for my birthday when I turn 103!”
When asked if he enjoyed performing for the residents, Dan admitted he was just as nervous performing to a room full of military veterans as he was performing to the Britain’s Got Talent judges.
Kingston Metropolitan Police see Dan’s growing popularity as an opportunity to portray a more human side to the Police and to break down barriers. After the original video of Dan dancing went viral (so far the video has had over 1.7 million hits) Kingston Police have committed to increasing Dan’s presence in the local area to interact with the local community.
Everyone at The Royal Star & Garter Homes would like to thank PC Dan Graham for putting on such a great show and wish him the best of luck with Britain’s Got Talent.
