Fundraising Military nurse in training

Alex’s Latest Blog

Hello again everyone,

So we did it! We finished the Birmingham half marathon! Who would have thought this time last year that I would be able to!?! It was really hard, but also really fun. People standing along the course watching shout out your name (as it is written on your t-shirt) and there was music along the way which was all so encouraging. The drink stops were much needed. We started out all running together, but slowly split up as some of the faster people moved forward and myself and some of the others just maintained our plodding along.

I did it in the respectable time of 2 hours 7 minutes but I kind of wish I had trained harder and got a better time – but I bet I’d say that whatever time I got. I am so happy to have been able to help the Royal Star & Garter Homes in this way and hope that I can organise the cohort to do something again soon – maybe just a bake sale next time though… we can gain back all the calories we burnt running!

Other than the race, University is going well, we’re only back for 6 weeks before we go on placement again, so they are jamming a lot in. But I prefer being busy! We are organising a military halloween party, just for a bit of fun and it is Harry Potter themed (my dream has finally come true) and I am getting a costume together to be Hermione Granger! So excited! I’m making chocolate frogs and there’ll be trolls and Harry Potter newspapers – its very well organised!

Thanks for still reading along and I hope it’s still interesting, Alex.
