A Surbiton care home is opening its doors and showcasing the outstanding person-centred care it provides in open days taking place in February and March. The open days are for veterans and their partners, as well as an accompanying relative or friend.

Royal Star & Garter in Upper Brighton Road, Surbiton, is welcoming potential residents to the Home on Friday 24 February and Friday 24 March, where they will meet current residents, staff and relatives.

The charity provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia.

Visitors will be given a snapshot of everyday life at Royal Star & Garter. They will be taken on a tour of the Home by residents, who will provide insight into what life is like at the Surbiton Home. The tour will include the in-house physiotherapy room and hair salon, garden, activities room and lounges.

There will also be arts and crafts, music, gardening and cooking activities for visitors to join in with or simply watch. Visitors are welcome to chat to staff over a cuppa and a slice of cake.

Home Manager Helena Maher said: “We appreciate that looking for a care home can be daunting, but we’re hoping a visit to Royal Star & Garter will help ease those concerns. We pride ourselves on being a loving family and providing exceptional care to veterans and their partners. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the Home to meet our fantastic residents, see the amazing facilities and activities we have to offer, and to answer any questions they may have.”

The open days take place from 2-4pm on both 24 February and 24 March. Those wishing to attend are asked to register their interest online through Eventbrite, with places limited to two per booking.
