Veterans celebrated Burns Night at Royal Star & Garter’s three Homes.

Residents in Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe were treated to a traditional Burns Supper, entertained by bagpipes and took part in themed activities to celebrate the special day on Tuesday 25 January.

Royal Star & Garter provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia.

The veterans tucked into a traditional Burns Supper – including haggis, neeps and tatties and a dram or two of whisky – at each of the charity’s Homes, in Solihull, Surbiton and High Wycombe.

In Surbiton, resident Ken read out the famous Robert Burns poem ‘Address to a Haggis’, before residents tucked into their meal. Prior to that, a bagpiper performed in the Home’s garden, with residents watching on from the dining and balcony areas. Later in the day, there was a Scotland quiz and whisky-tasting session.

A bagpiper also performed outside the Solihull Home before residents enjoyed their Burns Supper and ‘Address to a Haggis’. The Home also hosted a Scottish themed quiz and whisky-tasting session for residents.

And in High Wycombe, staff decorated the Home with bunting and Saltire flags. Residents there also took part in fun activities after enjoying their haggis.
