High Wycombe Sea Cadets has thanked Royal Star & Garter after receiving a £500 cheque.

The donation came after Royal Star & Garter won £500 to give to a charity of its choice following its shortlisting in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards.

The 74-bedroom Home in High Wycombe was shortlisted in the Dementia Care category of the prestigious architectural awards in December.

The Sea Cadets group, based in Chestnut Avenue, was chosen by Royal Star & Garter’s High Wycombe Home Manager Chelle Daly: She said: “I was invited to the local Sea Cadets in August 2018 and they made me feel so welcome. Since then I’ve been to many more of their events, and we’ve built close links. I’m looking forward to welcoming cadets into the Home in the near future. It’s great to be able to support a valuable group in our community.”

High Wycombe Sea Cadet Trustee Brian Taylor, Chairperson June Taylor and cadet MC2 Jordan visited the Home on Tuesday, 18 February, on the same day Pinders judges were touring the Home.

June said: “We don’t usually receive this amount, it’s a very large donation, and we’re very grateful to Chelle and Royal Star & Garter. The donation will help us enormously, it means a lot to us.”

Chelle also received a special trophy from the judges for its shortlisting. The Pinders Healthcare Design Awards aim to promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property. The awards take place on Wednesday 11 March.
