Veterans’ care home welcomes the community for Care Home Open Day
A charity which provides award-winning care for military veterans in High Wycombe is opening its doors to the public for Care Home Open Day.
The Royal Star & Garter Home is holding the arts and afternoon tea event at its new state-of-the-art Home in Hughenden Avenue on Friday 28th June 11am–4pm.
Dressed in red, white and blue, staff will invite the public in to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea, accompanied by a live pianist and a tour of the stunning new care home.
Also on offer is the chance to try out an Arts & Crafts session or join the Question & Answer chat with Home Manager Chelle Daly and Dementia Care Manager Reggie Ballos. The residents meanwhile will be busy enjoying Musical Bingo with Wartime tunes – and of course the fabulous cream tea.
Home Manager Chelle said: “We are joining other care homes across the country in welcoming our local community to see our home in action. The national theme is Arts in Care and we’re getting behind this with a colourful arts & crafts session in our dedicated Activities Room. We’d love the public to join us, enjoy a cream tea and find out more about the amazing care we offer to veterans. Do come and see us!”
The 74-room Home, which welcomed its first residents in April this year, cares for ex-Servicemen and women and their partners living with disability or dementia.
Doors are open from 11am-4pm and everyone’s welcome at The Royal Star & Garter Home in Hughenden Avenue.
