The organisers of the 2015 Birmingham International Tattoo are delighted to announce that almost £10,000 was raised at this year’s spectacular event at the Barclaycard Arena in November. The money raised goes to The Royal Star & Garter Homes, a charity which cares for disabled veterans and has a local home at Solihull only a few miles away from where the Tattoo is held each year.

Birmingham Tattoo Producer, Norman Rogerson MBE, commented: “This year’s event specially honoured the 3,000 or so airmen from 15 nations who, undaunted by the odds, defended us during the Battle of Britain and it is particularly appropriate through the funds raised to be able to assist those who served and are now reliant on The Royal Star & Garter Homes to protect them in their time of need.”

He added, “Over the last few years, through the generosity of our audiences, we have now raised nearly £80,000 for The Royal Star & Garter Homes, who have been caring for the nation’s military family since 1916, including some of ‘the few’.”

The Charity’s chief Executive, Mike Barter, who addressed the Tattoo audience, was delighted with the results: “We are extremely grateful to the organisers, the audiences and the volunteers at the Tattoo who have supported us so generously through the years and on into our centenary year in 2016. Every penny makes a difference to the well-being of the veterans in our care.”

The organisers aim to bring that total to a magnificent £100,000 by the end of next year to commemorate the Charity’s centenary.
