Fundraising for veterans’ charity by John Lewis shoppers in Solihull and Kingston stores
Shoppers at John Lewis & Partners are helping raise funds for Royal Star & Garter through the department store’s Community Matters scheme.
The initiative, which sees shoppers vote for one of three good causes using green tokens, launched in the Kingston branch on Saturday, 1 February, and will run for three months.
Voting takes place at The Place to Eat restaurant. Money raised will go to the charity’s Home, which provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia.
Royal Star & Garter was also in the Community Matters scheme in Solihull in autumn last year, and raised £1,014 which went towards a new minibus for the Solihull Home.
The Community Matters scheme sees John Lewis & Partners donate money to local causes chosen by customers.
Senior Community Fundraiser Lauren Baker said: “We’re very grateful to John Lewis for their support, and to their shoppers for raising more than £1,000 for the Solihull minibus. We’re now looking forward to seeing how much we raise at the Kingston branch.”
