Armed Forces Day explained
- Armed Forces Day is a national event which takes place on the last Saturday of June, falling this year on 28 June.
 - It is a chance to show your support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.
 - It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations, beginning on Monday 23 June, when the public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community.
 - It includes Reserves Day (this year on 25 June), which provides the country with an opportunity to recognise our Reserve Forces.
 - Celebrations will take place across the UK, with military displays, parades, and entertainment in more than 100 locations.
 - As a charity which cares for veterans and their families, Armed Forces Day is an important date in the Royal Star & Garter calendar.
 - Some residents in our Homes are presented with a veterans badge (above).
 - Events and activities take place in our Homes to mark Armed Forces Day – including live music, arts and crafts activities and outings.
 - The UK first celebrated a ‘Veterans’ Day’ in 2006. In 2009 this was renamed ‘Armed Forces Day’ and it became a wider celebration of all of our Armed Forces community.
