I have such happy memories of our meeting in 1953. Peter and I were courting. Jen had become a friend through our choral society ( she had a glorious singing voice!). Peter’s Swiss Cottage attic was a great meeting place – and one evening she brought her new boy friend – Bob Pinker “ a poet” she said. We all bonded and had much fun. In 1955 we all got married – Bob and Jen 5 weeks after us, and for the first few years of married life had neighbouring flats.
It has been wonderful to follow his remarkable career, and, when my husband died 7 years ago, a joy to be back in touch again. He was in every way Chaucer’s “perfect gentle knight”.
