Miss Yvette Doughty
1 December 2019
Yvette was a loyal supporter of Royal Star and Garter who died in December 2019 aged 101. After taking care of her loved ones, she decided to leave our Solihull Home a gift in her Will.
Born in Birmingham, she followed in her mother’s footsteps supporting Royal Star and Garter after her veteran father, Fred, died when Yvette was in her teens. Fred was a civil engineer and was involved in building the Manchester Ship Canal, something she was immensely proud of.
Yvette had a successful career as a school bursar working at both Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Rugby School in Warwickshire. She was keen golfer and loved dogs, and had a busy social life right up until her last days.
She was looked after by her cousin, Russ, in her later years who said “She was a truly inspirational woman
and fiercely independent.”
Yvette will be missed.
