Mr Robert Meldrum

13 January 2021

In loving memory of Robert

Royal Star & Garter Resident

Dad was a large than life character and lived a full and healthy life for 92 years.

Dad was born in Kinross in Scotland and when he left school he joined the forestry commission. Following that he joined the Army within the REMEs during the Malayan emergency. He travelled all across Malaya and Singapore and told us many stories of his time there.  When dad left the army he worked several jobs before settling as a self employed electrical engineer,  eventually retiring in his 70’s.

Dad was married twice and had 3 daughters, one of whom sadly died in 1994 aged 24. He also had 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and he often said they kept him on his toes.

During his retirement he played indoor bowls with his wife Maureen, he was pretty good at it and won many times. But he was very competitive and often mum wouldn’t play in the same team as him.

Dad was also known to help others where he lived and was often seen out gritting the pavements and sweeping up the leaves in winter so no one would slip over.

Losing dad has left a huge hole in our lives and we will miss him for eternity.
