Mr Norman Knowles

07 April 2015

Resident of The Royal Star & Garter Homes, 2008-2015

Norman Knowles joined the British Army in 1942 aged 18. He came from a military family and his father and brother were also in the Services. His extensive tour of duty saw him posted to India, Burma and Palestine.

Norman came to live with The Royal Star & Garter Homes in 2008, in the old Home on Richmond Hill. He was in a wheelchair and suffered from painful rheumatism. The Home was able to provide the high standard of care that he needed. Regular physiotherapy helped Norman to stay active and to enjoy life in the Home, of which he said:

“I’d recommend it to anyone – it’s a marvellous place.”

Norman very kindly allowed the Charity to share his experiences with our supporters, helping to raise vital funds for disabled ex-Service men and women. He will be much missed by everyone at The Royal Star & Garter Homes.
