Col Alan G Wooldridge OBE
09 October 1929 - 31 October 2011
Alan Wooldridge was born in Olton, went to school at The Solihull School and joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1949 having passed out from Sandhurst. He was seconded to 2 Parachute Regiment but returned to The Royal Warwicks as adjutant. He was appointed Commanding Officer of the then Warwickshire Fusiliers at the end of 1968 and was still CO when they became 2RRF.
A picture painted during the official ceremony for the new Colours, which took place on the Maifeld in Berlin, was donated to the Musem of the Royal Warwicks in Warwick by Alan.
Alan had supported the Star and Garter homes for many years and his strong links with Solihull explain the donations made in his memory to the new Star and Garter Home at Solihull.
