Volunteer in our Homes

There are many ways you can help, from supporting activities and outings to participating in quizzes or simply chatting over a cup of tea.

Become a Telephone Friend

We're looking for kind, warm and compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team as Telephone Friends.

Volunteer at events

Join the cheer squad at a marathon, help at a farmers' market or support our fetes. Every moment you can give is appreciated.

What can you do to help?

At Royal Star & Garter, we offer a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities. Whether you’re eager to spend time with our residents and listen to their incredible stories, become a Telephone Friend and connect with veterans and their partners across the country, or assist with fundraising out in the community, there’s a role for everyone. Whatever your skills or availability, you can make a meaningful difference and help create special moments every day for the veterans and partners that we care for.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering has mutual benefits for both the veterans and partners we care for, and those volunteering for us. It’s a great opportunity to give something back to the veterans who served our country, and help them to live life to the full every day. At the same time, volunteering enhances our own wellbeing, providing a chance to make a positive impact, connect with new people, and develop valuable skills and experiences.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all volunteers, including those living with disabilities. Our volunteering opportunities are designed to be flexible, and we work closely with individuals to ensure that their needs are met so they can participate fully:

Accessibility: We ensure that our volunteering roles and environments are accessible, whether that’s through physical adjustments, assistive technology, or other accommodations.

Inclusive training: Our volunteer training programs are inclusive and designed to accommodate different learning styles and needs, so every volunteer feels confident in their role.

Open communication: We encourage open dialogue about accessibility and inclusion, and are always open to suggestions on how we can improve our support for volunteers living with disabilities.

We are committed to making our volunteering community a welcoming space where everyone feels valued, regardless of ability or background.
