On Saturday 26th June, the team will be hiking over 800m (twice!), traversing the Pen y Fan before tackling Jacob's Ladder on the return leg. They will follow the same route taken by the Special Forces in their selection process.

Meet the team!

We caught up with the team prior to the event, here's what they had to say...

Jackie

I’m really looking forward to this challenge, I first got to know the charity when my dear dad spent his last year at our Surbiton Home after suffering a stroke. He was very happy there and so well looked after. It’s wonderful to team up with colleagues to raise money for all the amazing veterans we look after today.

Emma

I'm keen to push myself to complete the challenge, especially for such an important cause. My cousin is in the Royal Marines and I want to raise as much as I can to support our veterans.

Lauren

I haven’t hiked this distance before and especially not with such incline - it's definitely a challenge! I have seen how residents and staff at Royal Star & Garter have lived and worked with courage throughout the pandemic and I know I can do this for them.

Lydia

It's going to be a huge challenge but I am really looking forward to it! I have seen first-hand the amazing care residents receive at Royal Star & Garter and want to raise as much as I can for them.

Pam

Coming from a military background myself, each and every resident could be a member of my own family. The stories that our residents share, are incredible and without exception they are always so humble about the part that they played. I want to do my bit too, one step at a time, up a rather big hill in Wales!

Make a donation today and help the team raise £1500 for Royal Star & Garter

This is the equivalent of running 60 in-house physiotherapy sessions, providing 100 hours of specialist dementia support or funding three months of gardening activities to support resident well-being.
