Royal Star & Garter and the UK outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

While we all move into new tiers and higher restrictions are introduced, our vital care for veterans and their partners continues. We remain as committed as ever to ensuring that the risk of any infection within our Homes is minimised.

We are meeting, or exceeding, all national guidance and our staff have shown extraordinary courage and skill in their work. However, our Homes in Surbiton and High Wycombe now sit in tier 4 and our Home in Solihull remains in tier 3.

Due to the support of a generous funder, we have been able to build five Covid-secure meetings spaces across our Homes. This means that despite the new restrictions, we are able to allow visits from relatives using these spaces to continue in line with the new national guidance.

We remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and maintaining a regular connection with their families is critical to this. We want to minimise any impact of the increased risk of infection on our staff, so they are back wearing scrubs and we have increased the use of PPE.

We are fully engaged in the vaccination programme and staff in our Surbiton Home are already accessing this. We are in the process of making arrangements for staff in High Wycombe and Solihull.

We would like to thank our partners, funders, suppliers and members of the local communities around each of our Homes who have supported us throughout the pandemic. We are truly grateful to you all.

Our priority is protecting the residents we care for.
We are extremely grateful for your support and understanding.
