Royal Star & Garter and the UK outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

 

While the country continues to be under restrictions, our vital care for veterans and their partners continues. We remain committed to ensuring that the risk of any infection is minimised.

 

Visiting restrictions remain in place across all our Homes and our Day Care services are still suspended. Our support office staff remain working from home wherever possible.

 

From the week commencing 1 June, in line with the changes to the national  guidance on meeting in groups in outside spaces, we began supporting families with one-to-one visits with their loved ones. These are being conducted outside our Homes and relatives are required to confirm their health, take a temperature check, wear a protective mask and sit in designated chairs that support social distancing.

 

Infection prevention and control remains our top priority. Our care teams are absolutely committed to meeting, or exceeding, all national guidance and staff have shown extraordinary courage and skill in their work. We couldn’t be more proud of them. Social distancing within the Homes and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are strictly in place.

 

Our staff are enrolled in a regular testing programme and we are supporting them to access this every two weeks. It is this, alongside the continued dedication of our teams, that means at the time of writing we have no cases of residents or staff tested positive for the virus.

 

However this does not mean that we are being complacent. We continue to dedicate our energies to keeping our residents and staff safe and well. We would like to thank our partners, funders, suppliers and members of the local communities around each of our Homes who have supported us since March. We are truly grateful to you all.
