We received some wonderful entries and residents thoroughly enjoyed judging the winners.

Our gardens

 

The garden spaces at our Homes are designed on a sensory model and are fundamental to the relaxation and well-being of our residents, particularly for those living with dementia.

 

The gardens serve many purposes. They can be a place to socialise with friends and family; host to a range of activities such as: planting and sewing or outdoor physio; a relaxing space, where residents can reflect and listen to the bird song and wind chimes.

 

David lives in our High Wycombe Home and loves gardening.


His daughter says ‘He always has done and finds it therapeutic. I saw the raised beds when Dad moved in, and staff told him he could plant and grow whatever he wanted. It gave Dad focus. Now he can go outside and potters about. He planted runner beans and now he’s having his runner beans for tea, which is lovely.’
